Who is APC?

APC stand for Atkens Property Care

Atken is no stranger to the Austrlian cleaning industry, working in it for the last 15 years. Throughthis time not much has changed. In fact, Atken will tell you the cleaning industry is the least progressive and innovative industry in Australia. 

Thi has lead to many shortcuts, illegal practices and un-trained employees as the demaind for cleaners has increased but without new systems and ideas, the industry is unable to keep up.

APC is born

TBoth Atken and Jake found they both shared a passion in new innovation and being at the core of your business.

They decided to research the shortcommings of the cleaning indstry and see how todays advances can deliver a higher quality service that bnefts clients, staff and the buiness.

 

After a lot of reaerch some interesting facts were discovered that shoced Jake but not thios in the cleaning industry. 

At least 50% of employees are illegally working. Earning cash money to avoid paying tax. Students using abn numbers so they can work more than the government allowed 20 hours/fortnight

Cleaning companies exploiting employees who do not know anything about award rates

Supposed companies only employing "vetted" staff

There was (is) a list of shonky activiites that goes on for ever.

This has caused a the supposed average cleaneing rate to be well below profit margin as everyone want to undercut the other to get business.

APC vowed to be 100% compliant, fair and ethical no matter what happens. 

A cleaning DJ

In 2018 December, Atkens property care was only a few months old and was already with a large contract sending cleaners to Victoria market so an office manager was needed. Enter Jake, with over 37 years as a DJ, host and entertainer, a business managment degree and many years in customer service. Jake was exactly waht Atkens property care needed. 

The APC vission

APC vowed to be 100% compliant, fair and ethical no matter what happens.

This meant th usualy cleaning model of hiring sub-contractors could not be used, we had to employ our cleaners. 

To this day, AP Shine employs staff on a casual basis paying them the award rates as per fairwork. 

This inlcudes penalty rates for weekends, holidays, evening and morning hours. Superannuation is paid plus all are covered with insurance and workcover. 

Each employee must gave a police check and working with children.

The APC innovation

ACompliance now also means being registered with the labour hire authority, which we are and being accountable for your bass, gst, taxes and other contributions to society. 

With that all tekn care of we found 1 repeating them that was annoyin tocustomers and a complete hinrance to doing busness in this instant world.

Quoting"

Every cleaning company, cleaner, small busines is in the habit of quoting. This is the way its always been. 

Jake could not understand why they don't have prices already online, wth packages that you can opruchase and book right away. 

Most people now want to make a decision straight away, they want it booked, and not have to think about it again. 

APC filled the whole and made the leap. We have put together a range of cleaning packages to suit all size homes, with a flat rate.

Sure we are still woring some out, but this has laready proiven very popular over the last year. Not only is it saving time on us, no visitng places to quote, then to lose the sale to someone else, but our clients can read exactly what is in the package, what gets cleaned, how big the house is, how long it takes, when can it be booked, are there any add ons to purchase, they can pay online, and book the service all within minutes instead of waiting for someone to remmber to call back with a quaote for a home trhey have cleaned a millin times. They cleaning company alrwsady knows how long but quoting means they can up the price and the customer would not know. Or they can undercut the competition by using cash employees.

AThe other pet hate customers were writing about online and in reviews, was not knowing who the cleaner is?

And that is becuase most of the larger comanies were/are using sub contractors who they send out to the job. THe sub contractor then has family and friends who they pay cash and sneds them of to the jobs. 

So now the actual company who you booked does not even have xcontrol on who is coming to your premises to be around your privaxcy, your place, your children. 

 

So customers would see cleaners up to 4 hours late, no communication on how liong it would be before the cleaner arrives. They had no idea what they looked like, if they had police check, wwcc, insurance, or are legal to work. 

Some cleaners did not show at all and this is styill happening today. Check google reviews.

Then when the leaner arrived, they could barely speak english, or understand the job. Or perhaps they are men and it is the right of a woman, home alone, to ask for female cleaners to atten. 

APC said we will not do this, instead becuase we directly employ our hand picked team, we know thier personality. We organised thier checks. 

They have photos on our website with bios. In our clients confirmation email, they are told the cleaners name and linked to thier bio. 

Our cleaners are given our clients contact details and of course our Shine care team and contact either party instantly.

We also use technogology to see where our team are. We know what time they left home to arrive at the job, what time they start and finish the job plus where they are using GPS. This is whta techology is for, to make life safer and more efficient for everyone.

Our team love it, our clients liove it and we love it. .
